People with small dogs

First off, I would like to say that not all people with small dogs are at fault here, but most are. So I was walking my dog, Bobby No-Balls, and I saw a lady with a little poodle type thing. I changed direction, and waited for her to pass, as although my dog has a horrific bark, he is one of the most friendly that you could ever meet, and just loves to be able to sniff other dogs. I waited for about 10 minutes, and finally turned back to go home, and sure enough, Mrs. Small poodle type thing is there, yacking away to some geriatric man. Groaning internally, I think about the whole, "My dog has a nasty bark, but he's very friendly, and just wants to sniff your dog" speech (which I am used to and thank to this day those "brave" souls who oblige, and make my dog's day fantastic). I start on my little talk, and the lady stares at me, confused. I slowly bring the dog forward, assuming that the lady is okay with my dog, when all of a sudden, scoops up her dog and says, "Well I don't really want him near my dog!!" Sure enough my dog, who can't see where the poodle type thing has gone, jumps up on his hind legs to see, and the lady freaks out. Now I'm smarting a lovely burn mark from the leash, venting my anger about the lady who is more of a bitch then her little poodle type thing, and thinking about how to get even. Listen, people, I understand that lots of people like small-breed dogs, or don't have room for a bigger dog, but seriously, my dog isn't even very big, he's considered to be a medium-breed dog. Generally, when the owner (if they are a responsible dog owner) will inform you if their dog could be a threat to yours. When they say that the dog is very friendly with all sizes of dogs, they tend to MEAN it. I'm sick of small dog owners thinking that their dogs are so vulnerable, and unsafe with dogs bigger then them. If you want to protect your little baby, don't walk it at a high-traffic time of day through a busy trail! It's bad enough for me to have to be dealing with my excited dog with dogs his size, but when you scoop up your dog frantically, it is only going to excite my dog even more. To be honest, I don't even like small dogs, and if it's smaller than a house cat, it definitely isn't a dog. So next time that lady goes walking her poodle type thing, I hope that HER dog is the one to instigate a fight, so she can see that dogs of all sizes can be aggressive, not just large-breed dogs (which depending on the breed actually tend to be friendlier). Thanks a bunch to those understanding dog owners who get the term, "My dog's bark is much worse than his bite." And to those who know how I feel, I hope that your next dog walking experience be a good one with only understanding dog owners on your path!

Take care,

Why I hate my cottage...

Well, this isn't actually MY cottage, but it is close enough. My father decided it would be a good idea to build a family cottage. I was fine with the idea, thinking it would be in a nice, quaint little cottaging area, maybe 3 or 4 hours from my house. I was very wrong. I later found out that we had purchased a lot on a tiny, uninhabited lake with maybe one other cottage on it. The worst part? It is 12 hours away, half-built, terrible electricity, plumbing, shower or indoor toilet. Its half an hour from the nearest town (which by the way is a FRENCH town, full of old french blokes sitting on benches), and can not be reached by road, oh no, you have to BOAT to it. My straightener doesn't work up there, and there's bears. Now, bears aren't such an issue, my true home town was quite populated by them, however, there is no one, I repeat, no one to hear our screams of death should we be attacked. As much as I love my parents, I sometimes doubt their sanity, yeah, they actually LIKE it there. My lovely sister, Heathen also adores the great outdoors. I myself, want to vomit repeatedly every time that I'm forced to go there. The only plus side (if you could call it that) is that NL was allowed to come up for a week, which was fabulous. Well, I bet next time you get to visit your cottage, you might think twice about how terrible it really is!

Take care,

The other thing...

So, currently, my largest life problem was coming up with a blog name. Whilst discussing this pressing issue with ML, KS and CB, I decided to thing of what my "thing" might be. I asked, "What is important to me in my life?" I recieved such answers as, "NL," "Bobby No Balls," "Badgers," and, "If you ask me what to name your blog one more time, I'm going to kill myself." After many hours of contemplating, I finally decided that I do not in fact, have a thing. Although I have a somewhat hellish cottage which is 12 hours away, a boyfriend (NL) that I spend every waking hour with, and fabbity-fab friends, the one thing that I lack in my life is a thing. One helpful person in my class said, "Talking!" to which I replied, "Well, yes, but that's one thing, and my thing is really another thing." (are you following this so far?) And there it was, the other thing. There is some mystic thing out there which is so unknown to man (and me) that it must be classified as "other." So, my thing is "other," and my life problem was solved, and that's the story of the unknown thing. What's your thing (hahahaha like that crappy commercial made by "Concerned Children's Advertisers")?
